Authorities have identified two teen boys found dead in the landing gear of a JetBlue plane more than two months after workers at Fort-Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport made the gruesome discovery.
The boys were identified as Jeik Aniluz Lusi, 18, and Elvis Borques Castillo, 16, both from the Dominican Republic.
They were discovered in the plane’s wheel well late on Jan. 6 by workers carrying out a “routine post-flight maintenance inspection.”
Flight data showed the Airbus A320 had traveled from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to New York’s JFK Airport earlier that day before heading to Salt Lake City, Utah and then landing in South Florida.
Investigators used “extensive DNA testing” to identify the boys. It remains unclear how the stowaways managed to sneak into the plane’s landing gear.
