A West Virginia couple was charged with child neglect after their 3-year-old son was found “shivering” on the roof of their home while they were passed out from smoking pot all night.
Mason and Sonya Adkins, ages 29 and 25, were reportedly asleep when officers responded to several reports of a child on the top of a home at around 11:45 a.m. on April 10.
Officers forced entry through several doors to reach the boy, who was “covered waist down with urine and feces” and “hunched over shivering” in a rainstorm.
Police also found a 1-year-old who “smelled of feces and urine” inside the filthy home.
The parents admitted to police that they had not checked on their children since 8 p.m. the previous day.
They reportedly said they spent the night playing video games and smoking pot before passing out.
The Adkins’ were charged with child neglect creating risk of injury and conspiracy. They are being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
