Five people were killed and several were injured in a major crash along Interstate 20 in Texas on Saturday afternoon.
Multiple 911 calls sent emergency responders to the westbound lanes of I-20 near Terrell, just east of Hiram Road, at around 2:40 p.m.
Officials said seven vehicles were involved in the deadly crash, including 18-wheelers and four passenger vehicles.
The driver of a truck-tractor fell asleep behind the wheel, crashing into a Ford F-150 with five people inside.
The tractor then slammed into two other 18-wheelers, causing one to slam a Jeep Compass, a Ford Mustang, and a Honda.
The driver of the Jeep and four occupants of the Ford died at the scene. Several people sustained “less severe injuries.”
