A New York City boy was charged with reckless manslaughter in connection with the death of his 14-year-old friend.
Jamauri Mezar was accidentally gunned down while hanging out with a group of friends at his Queens apartment Wednesday evening.
Police said a 15-year-old boy was playing with a gun when it discharged, hitting Mezar’s head.
The group fled the scene except for one who opened the door for Mezar’s stepfather, who found the boy dead.
“I save people everyday, but I couldn’t save my own son,” Mezar’s mother, a registered nurse, said.
“I don’t know why God would do this to me. He was a beautiful boy.”
The juvenile, who was not identified due to his age, was charged with manslaughter and weapon possession charges for “reckless discharging a loaded firearm in the direction of the victim, causing his demise.”
