A boat collision claimed the lives of three people during a fishing tournament on an Alabama lake Wednesday, police said.
Two vessels collided just after 7 a.m. on Smith Lake in Cullman County during a Major League Fishing event.
The victims were on board a Center Console boat when it crashed into a Nitro bass boat.
They were identified as Joey Broom, 58, John Clark, 44, and Jeffrey Little, 62.
Little and Clark were thrown overboard from the impact, and their bodies were later recovered from the lake.
“This is a heartbreaking moment for our entire organization,” said Kathy Fennel, general manager of MLF.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of those affected by this tragedy.”
