Two days after the butchered body of an elderly man was discovered inside his El Paso home, police on Monday arrested his youngest son on suspicion of murder.
Victor Contreras, 74, was found dead in a gruesome scene with his throat slit and body disemboweled on Saturday after his older son went to check on him.
The son did not hear from Contreras for more than a week before breaking into his home through an open window and finding the body.
Contreras lived with his 39-year-old son, Jaime Contreras, and had earlier this month confessed to his daughter-in-law that Jaime started “acting crazy again.”
Jaime was reportedly unhappy about his father selling the home. Shortly later, the father called 911 to report that Jaime had attacked him with a hammer, but the incident was closed as a mental health call.
Police were called to Contreras’ home twice in 2023, and in both incidents; Jaime claimed his father was an alien.
