A police-involved shooting in Wynwood, Miami, left two people dead and one injured early Saturday morning, police said.
A shootout involving officers and an armed man and a woman took place near the area of Northwest 1st Court and 23rd Street.
Miami Police Officer Mike Vega said that more than one officer fired at the pair.
“Officers observed the male who was armed. Subsequently, shots were fired. We know that the subject who had the firearm was taken to Memorial Jackson Hospital,” Vega said.
Police said the man and woman died from gunshot wounds. A third person sustained a hand injury and is expected to survive.
“We do have several witnesses who were on the scene, and they are at our station being interviewed to get more details,” Vega added.
