Deputies find dead woman inside Minnesota home after fatally shooting suspect

Deputies in Freeborn County, Minnesota, shot a man dead before finding a deceased woman inside a home while responding to a domestic disturbance Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred at around 7:15 p.m. at a residence on the 21000 block of 880th Avenue in rural Albert Lea.

Police responded to a “domestic disturbance possibly involving firearms” and learned that the suspect had taken off from the scene heading to Mower County.

The suspect’s vehicle was located in Mower County, where a chase unfolded. The man reportedly returned to the residence and exited the vehicle.

    The woman was likely killed before police responded to the scene. The suspect and victim’s relationship remains unclear.

    The deputies involved in the shooting are on critical leave. The incident was, at least partly, captured on body cameras.

    The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident. More details will be released “in the coming days.”
