A Nevada father was arrested in Tennessee after police found his seven daughters living in the back of a U-Haul truck in deplorable conditions.
Brandon Blount told detectives that he was the father of the seven girls, aged from 3 to 12, and that they were homeless.
He said that the family traveled from Nevada in a rental car, but the rental expired and he moved the family to the U-Haul.
East Ridge Assistant Police Chief Josh Creel said the U-Haul smelled of urine, and some of the girls had lice.
He also pointed to the dangers the children were exposed to while riding the U-Haul.
“If that vehicle were to overturn or be involved in a traffic crash, parties would be at the mercy of physics in the back of that vehicle, and it would not be a good situation. Same thing with a pickup truck,” Creel said.
