A U.S. Army soldier is awaiting extradition to North Carolina after he was arrested during his basic training in Missouri for allegedly murdering his pregnant girlfriend.

Private First Class Tyrique Zavier Leroy Williams, 26, is facing first-degree murder and concealment of death charges in connection with the killing of 24-year-old Annie Lock.

Investigators said Lock was five weeks pregnant when she vanished last August.

Her family said Williams told them he would report her missing, but never did.

Robeson County Sheriff’s deputies found Lock’s decomposed remains in a Red Springs pond, nearly 30 miles from where she was last seen alive.

Three days later, the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division apprehended Williams at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he was completing his basic training with the 35th Engineer Battalion.

A neighbor of Lock and Williams said the young couple did not seem to get along before the slaying.

“They would be outside pushing each other and stuff like that,” one recalled.
