Teen, 17, was let into Dallas high school by student before firing ‘indiscriminately’ at group of boys

A 17-year-old suspect has reportedly surrendered after allegedly opening fire at Wilmer-Hutchins High School on Tuesday afternoon, injuring several students.

Tracy Haynes Jr., 17, faces charges of aggravated assault in connection with the mass shooting at the public Dallas high school.

Five students were shot when Haynes Jr. was let into the school through an unsecured door by another student just after 1 p.m.

    He then “displayed a firearm and began firing at the students indiscriminately,” hitting five of them.

    The gunman spotted a student “who was not able to run” and approached him. He “appeared to take a point-blank shot at the student.”

    Hours after the shooting, Haynes Jr. turned himself in to police. Classes at Wilmer-Hutchins High School have been canceled for the remainder of the week.
