Alaska man dies at work after heavy equipment falls on him

An Alaska man died Wednesday in a freak job accident after a piece of heavy equipment fell on him.

Nelson Holder, 67, worked as a bus mechanic for Dallas–based company MV Transportation.

The victim was working with a 7-ton jack when the deadly accident took place, the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development said.

  • “MV Transportation is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Nelson Holder, a valued member of our team,” the company said.

    “Our immediate priority is supporting Mr. Holder’s family and offering resources to our employees who worked alongside him during this difficult time.”

    Holder was described as a “good man” who “helped his neighbors like they were relatives, and loved his grand and great-grandchildren.”
