A Cumberland County detective was fatally shot during a home invasion late Tuesday, authorities said.
Detective Sgt. Monica Mosley, 51, was shot and killed at her Bridgeton home.
Officers responded to the home at around 10:30 p.m. after receiving reports of “several subjects kicking in a front door at a residence.”
Police have detained a person who had suffered a gunshot wound for questioning but no arrests were made as of Wednesday morning.
Mosley started as a paralegal specialist with the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office in 2006.
In 2009, she became a county detective who “served our community with honor, dignity, and respect before her untimely passing.”
“Always loved and admired, so devastating of a loss,” said Police Chief Michael Gaimari Sr.
“Justice will be served and you will always be in our thoughts and prayers.”
