NJ detective gunned down during home invasion: 'So devastating of a loss'

A Cumberland County detective was fatally shot during a home invasion late Tuesday, authorities said.

Detective Sgt. Monica Mosley, 51, was shot and killed at her Bridgeton home.

Officers responded to the home at around 10:30 p.m. after receiving reports of “several subjects kicking in a front door at a residence.”

Police have detained a person who had suffered a gunshot wound for questioning but no arrests were made as of Wednesday morning.

    In 2009, she became a county detective who “served our community with honor, dignity, and respect before her untimely passing.”

    “Always loved and admired, so devastating of a loss,” said Police Chief Michael Gaimari Sr.

    “Justice will be served and you will always be in our thoughts and prayers.”
