6-year-old boy repeatedly stabs toddler brother; kills him at Illinois home

Authorities in Joliet, Illinois are investigating a tragic murder involving two young siblings.

A 6-year-old boy is accused of stabbing his 2-year-old brother multiple times inside the family home killing him.

The tragedy unfolded shortly after 5 p.m. Friday when the boys’ mother found her younger son stabbed multiple times and called 911.

“It is our understanding that family was present inside their home when this incident occurred,” said Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English.

    His brother, who allegedly used a kitchen knife in the attack, is now in police custody.

    “The 6-year-old brother is currently with family and officers here at the Joliet Police Department,” English said.

    “We continue to work with the Department of Children and Family Services to figure out the next steps in this investigation.”
