A Mississippi prison employee and an inmate she helped escape the facility were arrested Wednesday after a police chase that ended in a crash.
Ryan Burks, 39, broke free from the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility with the help of kitchen employee Leslie Nichole McNeil, 44.
The pair fled in McNeil’s car that was tracked down by authorities. They reportedly disobeyed police commands and refused to stop.
Authorities said the pair’s car eventually crashed and they both were arrested. McNeil was taken to a hospital after sustaining injuries.
Burks was taken into the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
He had been serving time since 2006 for burglary and now faces additional charges of fleeing in a motor vehicle and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
McNeal faces charges of felony aiding and abetting and is currently being held in Lafayette County Jail.
