Vermont town official, wife, teen stepson shot, killed in home suspected triple homicide

A beloved Vermont town official, his wife, and her 13-year-old son were found slain inside their home on Sunday, police said.

Brian Crossman, 46; Erica Crossman, 41; and Colin Taft, 13, were shot to death inside their Pawlet home. their deaths were ruled homicides.

State Police said that Brian Crossman, a select-board member in Pawlet, was shot in the head and torso while Erica Crossman was shot to the head and Colin was shot several times.

    “Brian Crossman was a friend and neighbor, a hardworking community member who just this year stepped up to join the Pawlet Selectboard,” Chairperson of the Pawlet Selectboard Mike Beecher said during a Tuesday night.

    “This tragedy that struck him and his family has also hit our community hard, and we are shaken and grieving,”

    “Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this devastating loss.”
