False reports of explosives found in a car near the site of a scheduled Trump rally have raised fears of a security breach hours before the former President’s Long Island rally.
Nassau County authorities confirmed that at least one person was taken into custody Wednesday but insisted that no explosive devices had been located near Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale.
Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said the arrested person was a civilian who “may have been training a bomb detection dog” near the site of Trump’s event and who
“falsely reported explosives being found.”
The security scare emerged from a post shared on X by an independent journalist citing unnamed sources in the local police.
“False,” Lt. Scott Skrynecki told the AP about the online reports.
