Toddler killed in highway crash after parents put her down to bed

A Michigan toddler was killed in a highway crash Friday evening after she wandered away from her family home, authorities said.

The 2-year-old girl’s parents put her down to bed before she walked out of the Allen Township home while they worked around the residence.

    Troopers responded to the crash scene along U.S. Highway 12 in Hillsdale County and found the toddler lying on the ground with a first responder performed life-saving measures.

    The girl succumbed to her injuries at a hospital. No charges have been filed against the 38-year-old driver of the vehicle that struck her.
