A 2-year-old Virginia girl is dead after she was fatally struck by a car Thursday night, Henrico authorities said.
The toddler was hit by a Honda at around 10:45 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of Staples Mille Road in Henrico after wandering away from an area home.

Officers found the girl with “obvious signs of trauma” after the crash and took her to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The Honda driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Detectives believe the toddler was under the care of a babysitter when she wandered away from home.
