Belton news, South Carolina news.

A 3-year-old South Carolina boy is back home after spending months at an Augusta, Georgia burn center receiving treatment for third-degree burns.

Bennett Dornellas’ father, Joshua Dornellas, kidnapped him last May and led police on a chase across state lines before lighting his car on fire with the toddler still inside.

Little Bennett suffered third-degree burns to 90 percent of his body and spent four months receiving intensive care at the Augusta Burn Center before his release on Sept. 17.

“Today was amazing! Lots of tears shed, happy tears,” said Bennett’s mother, Chelsea Oliver.

“Bennett is sound asleep and so happy to be home!! He laughed so much at Uncle Jeremy and ridge playing with woodys hat lol so happy all my babies are under one roof and we get to spend quality time together!”

The toddler will still need 24-hour medical care, doctors said.

“Life will look a lot different for us forever but I find hope in knowing he will continue to get back to his ‘normal’,” the mother added.
