Abilene news, Texas news.

A Texas woman and her boyfriend were arrested Friday over the death of an infant whose body was found in a lake late last month.

Heather Rose Kennedy, 20, and Donald Schultz, 35, were charged with tampering with a human corpse days after a fisherman found the body of Kenndy’s daughter in Lake Ft. Phantom Hill.

The baby’s remains were found on August 31 inside a backpack on the shore of the lake near Sea Bee Park.

Kennedy initially claimed the baby, named Peyton, used to live with her father in Idaho before stopping answering detectives’ questions and requesting a lawyer.

He said she died in her car seat while they slept inside their home where temperatures exceeded 100 degrees.

After Peyton’s death, the couple kept her body at the residence for several days before tossing her into the lake, a witness claimed.

An autopsy placed the baby’s age between six and 10 months but an official cause of death remained unspecified.
