11-year-old Ohio boy charged after threatening to carry out school shooting

An Ohio boy was arrested Friday morning after he allegedly made threats to carry out a school shooting.

The 11-year-old boy allegedly made the threat in a text message exchange with a friend who then alerted Kent Police.

  • Officers arrested the juvenile and his parents for questioning. He was later charged with making terroristic threats.

    He remains held in the Portage Juvenile Detention Center.

    As the investigation proceeded, the involved Stanton Middle School closed Friday “out of an abundance of caution.”
