New York City news, New York news.

Two suspects were charged for the brutal slaying of a beloved Bronx fruit vendor who was beaten to death with a baseball bat earlier this month.

Leslie Sanchez, 56, succumbed on Sept. 14 to injuries he sustained two days earlier when two suspects bashed his head with a baseball bat at his selling place in Morris High.

Romel Jarrett, 37, and Terrence Downes, 44, were charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault.

The father-of-three’s widow said his injuries were so bad that a fedora-like hat was placed on him in his coffin to hide the horrific wounds.

“My children are missing him so much and they are speaking to him through his photos,” she said.

“No one understands the damage that they did to me or my children.”
