Utah officials work to recover 2 bodies after small plane crashes; becomes submerged in lake

Authorities in Utah are working to recover the bodies of two people who were aboard a small plane that crashed into Utah Lake Friday.

The aircraft became submerged under more than 8 feet of water after the crash that occurred at around 10 a.m.

  • “We have seen video of the crash, based on how the crash happened we believe it would be very unlikely that any occupants of the plane would survive,” Utah County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Sgt. Spence Cannon said.

    Divers and a private barge were trying to pull the wrecked plane out of the lake as of Friday evening.

    The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
