Arizona toddler killed when car struck stroller as mom crossed road

A Tucson, Arizona baby has died after a car struck her and her mother as they crossed a road Tuesday evening.

34-year-old Marquise Reese was pushing 11-month-old Miracle Mae Calloway in a stroller near Ruthrauff Road and Kain Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. when they were struck by a car.

“We were out back working and we started seeing a whole bunch of cops,” a cook at a local pizza shop said.

  • “We start noticing the traffic is getting blocked off to do a U-turn. Around 10 minutes later, there’s a whole bunch of cops, cars, and firefighters outside.”

    The baby suffered fatal injuries and died at a hospital. Her mother sustained minor injuries.

    32-year-old Colton Frank Ortiz was allegedly driving with no headlights when he struck the mom and baby. He now faces charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault, and aggravated DUI.
