Louisiana news, US news.

Two teens were killed and two others hurt when a drunken 18-year-old crashed into their car head-on early Sunday morning.

Axel Flores-Cordova had a blood alcohol concentration of seven times the legal underage limit when he drove his 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee into oncoming traffic on Louisiana Highway 3090 at around 1 a.m.

The driver of the Kia, Rylan Oncale, and his front-seat passenger, Taliyah Crochet, perished in the crash. Both were 18-year-olds and wearing seatbelts.

State Patrol Sgt. Ross Brennan explained why legal blood alcohol concentration is .02 for those under 21 while it’s .08 for older drivers.

“The reason why it’s so low is a young person, they’re lacking the experience behind the wheels,”

“They’re already susceptible to being involved in crash. Couple that with the effects of alcohol and drug impairment, chances of getting involved in a serious crash significantly rise.”
