A Florida boy is dead after he was shot during a birthday party for another child Sunday afternoon, police said.
3-year-old Rylo Yancy was shot at Riverland Park in Fort Lauderdale at around 4:30 p.m.
Police said he was hit by a stray bullet while playing on a slide when a drive-by shooting took place near the park.
“They took my heart, my soul. They took a lot of people’s strength,” Rylo’s distraught grandfather said.
“They don’t know how special he was to me, my family, the world.”
While police have identified and located one of the suspects’ cars, no arrests have been made so far.
Mayor Dean Trantalis called Rylo’s death “a loss that words cannot adequately describe.”
A reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.
