A Georgia father is in critical condition after he killed his teen daughter and tried to take his own life late Saturday.
Maurice Pollick, 43, shot himself after fatally stabbing his 17-year-old daughter Maria Pollock with a box cutter, the family said.
Police responded to the family’s Savannah home to find Maria with at least one fatal stab wound.
The teen was declared dead at the scene. Her father was taken to Savannah Memorial Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
“By the time were got here, everything was taped off, cops were out here, forensics everybody so we definitely knew it was really bad and that’s when we found out she was deceased,” the victim’s aunt Lakesha Leach said.
A motive has yet to be determined. Maria had just been chosen to be a cheerleader at Beach High School, her aunt revealed.
“That’s not a call you want to hear. You hope for the best as a family, but when you find out what’s going on it’s really devastating for her mom and all her family right now.”
