A Florida teen has been charged as an adult in connection to last month’s fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend’s mother.
Prosecutors said Monday that Eli Shinhoster, 16, faces first-degree murder charges for the June 27 killing of 38-year-old Eulalia Gonzalez.
Shinhoster allegedly approached Gonzalez as she held her infant on the front porch of her Homestead home and shot her to the eye.
The victim, who succumbed to her injuries, was the mother of Shinhoster’s 18-year-old ex-girlfriend.
The girl had ended a nine-month relationship with Shinhoster two months prior to the fatal shooting and since, the suspect had been threatening her and her mother, police said.
Shinhoster will be transferred from Miami-Dade’s Juvenile Detention Center to the adult prison.
