Louisiana teen ‘hearing voices’ stabs beloved teacher mom to death

A Louisiana teacher is dead after she was repeatedly stabbed by her 19-year-old son at their Shreveport home Friday afternoon.

Deputies responded to the scene at 2:11 p.m. after someone called 911 and told dispatchers, “My brother killed my mother!”

Once at the scene, deputies located 19-year-old Conner Lyons sitting on the rear steps of the residence and arrested him.

The teen told deputies he was hearing voices when he stabbed 55-year-old Lara Lyons to death.

    The victim was found dead in her bed. Conner was taken to Caddo Correctional Center and charged with second-degree murder.

    DeSoto Parish Schools identified the victim as a “beloved teacher” at Mansfield High School.

    “Ms. Lyon was a dedicated educator, a compassionate colleague, and a cherished member of the DeSoto Parish Schools family.”

    “Her commitment to her students and passion for teaching touched countless lives, and her absence will be deeply felt across our school community.”
