Human remains found in burned vehicle investigated as ‘suspicious death’

Authorities in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, are investigating a “suspicious death” after human remains were found inside a burned vehicle on Saturday.

Firefighters responded to a burning vehicle outside the Tropic Bay Aquatic Garden Center on West Central Avenue in Davidsonville and put out the flames.

Human remains were discovered on the passenger side of the vehicle. The body was sent to the medical examiner for an autopsy.

  • “That certainly changed our investigation from what appeared to be an initial vehicle fire to a suspicious death investigation,” said Police Spokesperson Justin Mulcahy. “That’s where we’re at right now.”

    The gruesome discovery shocked the community as police looked for any surveillance footage or witnesses as part of their investigation.

    “These kinds of things happen on TV, and then you go, ‘Wow, I can’t believe it’s right around the corner,’” a resident said.

    “It kind of puts you on your heels a little bit for sure.”
