New York City news, New York news.

Authorities in New York City said that a baby girl who was believed to have been fatally attacked by a dog was actually dead before the mauling incident.

An autopsy revealed that 6-week-old Kiyanna Winfield was already dead when the puppy attacked her in an NYCHA’s Queensbridge North Houses apartment on Tuesday morning.

The cause of the baby’s death remains unclear. The dog was taken to an Animal Care Center and put on a 10-day rabies observation hold.
