A Louisiana mother was taken into custody after she allegedly gunned down the father of her children during a custody exchange last weekend.
Randolyn Allen, 43, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the May 24 death of Brett Daigle, 48.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in Lake Charles at around 2:30 p.m.
Investigators said the former couple was meeting at the residence for a custody exchange when Allen “discharged a firearm,” striking Daigle “several times.”
Police said the shooting happened in front of the couple’s children. Daigle was declared dead at the scene.
It was not immediately clear whether Daigle was returning the children or picking them up to spend time with him in Colorado.
