Man takes own life after shooting dead wife, girlfriend

A Georgia man took his own life after fatally shooting his wife and girlfriend, police in Dalton said.

Concerned co-workers of the man’s wife sent police to her apartment on Murray Avenue on Friday after she failed to show up for work for several days.

Officers entered the apartment and found the woman deceased from a gunshot wound to the head.

After reviewing surveillance footage, detectives identified a suspect who had left the apartment in a vehicle around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

  • They tracked down the vehicle to another apartment on Shadow Lane and were waiting for a search warrant to enter the residence.

    In the meantime, a man called 911 to report finding his daughter and a man deceased inside that same apartment.

    Police believe the 911 caller was the girlfriend’s father, who went to check on her after she disappeared for days.

    The suspect allegedly turned the gun on himself after killing the two women. Identities of those involved were not immediately released.
