An Alabama mother has been charged with murder in connection to the death of her 4-month-old son.
Chambers County first responders were alerted at around 2 p.m. on Jan. 25 to an infant having a seizure at a Lanett, Alabama home.
“The East Alabama Fire Department was contacted for mutual aid and transported the black male infant to East Alabama Medical Center,” the Lanett Police Department said.
“The child’s condition was assessed by the medical staff at EAMC and then flown to the Children’s of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.”
The infant succumbed to his injuries four days later. An autopsy was conducted after investigators deemed the circumstances surrounding the death as “suspicious.”
Police arrested Jamesia Brichae Pruit, 26, on Wednesday and charged her with her son’s murder.
Authorities did not disclose the extent of the victim’s injuries citing an ongoing investigation.
