Former college basketball standout fatally shoots mother; covers body in blankets

A former college basketball standout is behind bars after he allegedly gunned down his mother in her Florida home and covered the body with blankets and towels in a “disturbing scene.”

51-year-old Erika Winford was reportedly heard screaming “He’s going to kill me” late Sunday night. The following morning, a friend found her deceased in a pool of blood in the backyard.

Police arrested her 28-year-old son, Eric Cobb, who was trying to flee. He was taken to the Duval County Jail on a second-degree murder charge.

    Averaging over 12 points per game in 32 contests, Cobb was once suspended for conduct detrimental to his UConn team.

    He was also forced to leave his career in South Carolina after an arrest for shooting at an occupied car with a BB gun.
