An off-duty Florida corrections deputy was fatally shot late last night in a suspected “targeted incident”, authorities in Palm Beach County said.
The 39-year-old was gunned down at the 1400 block of NW Avenue D shortly after 7:30 p.m. He died shortly later at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Investigators believed the shooting was targeted. They have yet to identify a suspect.
“We are distraught, to say the least,” the sheriff’s office said.
The fallen deputy had served for three years. A procession honoring him was held Monday night as his body was escorted from the hospital to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
