A New York City man took his own life after fatally shooting his girlfriend on the sidewalk near their Brooklyn home, police said.
The murder-suicide occurred at around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday after a fight at the couple’s Bushwick home that continued even after the man, Gabriel Sanchez, left the residence.
Surveillance footage caught Celina Ramos following Sanchez to the street during the argument. He then chased her as she screamed, grabbed her from behind, and shot her in the head.
Sanchez then shot himself in the neck but remained alive. He then shot himself a second time, in the head, the footage showed.
“I know they started to argue here. He left and she went after him. Her grandmother told her, ‘Stay home, because tomorrow you got to take me to a doctor’s appointment. She said, ‘I’ll be back in the morning.’ And she never made it back,” a relative said.
Days earlier, Sanchez was at the hospital for an MRI because he was suffering from seizures.
“He was a nice kid. I would never expect him to do something like this. Maybe something snapped. I don’t know,” the relative said.
