Chicago man charged in deaths of pregnant woman, 7-day-old boy

A Chicago man has been charged in connection to the deaths of a woman and an infant last month.

Robert Pasco III, 42, was charged with involuntary manslaughter of a family member, causing the death of a child, and three counts of causing a child to be endangered.

Pasco allegedly shot a 35-year-old woman to death on Jan. 16 in the 5800 block of West Newport. The victim was six months pregnant at the time.

  • Pasco is also accused of endangering three other children aged, 3, 4, and 7 years old, who were sleeping in the same room where the shooting occurred.

    Police said that Pasco was sleeping with a gun under his pillow when his girlfriend reached over trying to grab the gun.

    Pasco woke up and fired the gun, striking the woman in the chest. Her baby boy was delivered alive but only given a 25% chance of survival. He died seven days later.
