A Texas man is dead after he allegedly kicked down the door of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, trying to force entry and assault her son early Thursday.
Harris County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the apartment on West Village Drive at around 1 a.m. when the man showed up and kicked down the front door.

The woman’s 24-year-old son confronted the man who tried to assault him. The son fired two shots in self-defense, killing the man.
Witnesses said the decedent, later identified as Wilbert Tayes, had become aggressive in the days leading up to the shooting.
A grand jury will determine if charges will be filed against the shooter.
