A 12-year-old Wisconsin student was taken into custody this week after threatening to harm school officials and themselves, the Belleville Police Department said.
Officers responded to the Belleville School District Office at around 3:20 p.m. after receiving tips from fellow students that the child planned to “harm staff members and themselves.”
Police launched an investigation before arresting and referring a 12-year-old to the Dane County Juvenile Court on charges of disorderly conduct and terroristic threats.
The child remains in their parent’s custody and is not allowed on school grounds until further notice from officials.
“We are pleased students have taken to heart the safety of their environment and the importance of if they see or hear something that causes them concern to immediately report it to school officials or police,” said Interim Police Chief Chris Hughes.
