Police in Aurora announced the arrests of 11 suspects who terrorized residents of an apartment complex and kidnapped two victims and tortured them at a vacant apartment.
The suspects confronted the two victims and kidnapped them. The victims were bound and tortured, Chief Todd Chamberlain said.
“The courage of our victims to come forward really changed the dynamics of how this incident unfolded,” he said.
“Had it not been for the courage of them to come forward, we never would have known about this, and what else we wouldn’t have known is what’s unfolding as this investigation continues.”
The suspects were also accused of extorting residents of an apartment complex demanding $500 payments every two weeks.
“This wasn’t just a one-time thing – these suspects have been victimizing people over and over again,” the chief added.
The suspects are facing several charges including second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, first-degree assault, extortion, and burglary.”
