Drunk driver tells cops boyfriend may have drowned in submerged car prompting futile search

A drunken woman caused authorities to work hard to recover a submerged car after she told cops her boyfriend might have drowned inside the vehicle.

Harris County Constable Precinct 4 responded to reports of a DUI crash in a pond in the 7100 block of Avalon Bend Circle Friday morning.

Once at the scene, they found a car submerged in the pond and met the female driver who claimed she couldn’t remember if her boyfriend was inside the vehicle.

  • “While intoxicated, she said her boyfriend may have been inside when the vehicle went under,” police said.

    A dive team recovered the car and confirmed that no one was inside just before 9:30 a.m.

    The woman was arrested on DUI charges.

    The incident came one day after the body of a man was recovered from water in the same neighborhood.
