Mississippi woman shoots, kills estranged husband outside courthouse after divorce hearing

A Mississippi woman is behind bars after she allegedly gunned down her estranged husband following divorce proceedings at a Poplarville courthouse Tuesday afternoon.

Tanya Saucier, 49, allegedly opened fire at around 1 p.m. outside the Pearl River County Chancery Court following the conclusion of her divorce from James Ray Saucier.

The 62-year-old man was fatally injured. Tanya’s attorney, State Rep. Jansen Owen, tried to save the victim but to no avail.

  • “Basically, I left the courthouse and she opened fire. I did ultimately subdue her at which point she made threats against me,” Owen said.

    “I administered first aid as best as I could to Mr. Saucier.”

    In August, James Saucier was indicted on aggravated assault and domestic violence with a deadly weapon after shooting his wife five times including in the face.
