A Mississippi woman is behind bars after she allegedly gunned down her estranged husband following divorce proceedings at a Poplarville courthouse Tuesday afternoon.
Tanya Saucier, 49, allegedly opened fire at around 1 p.m. outside the Pearl River County Chancery Court following the conclusion of her divorce from James Ray Saucier.
The 62-year-old man was fatally injured. Tanya’s attorney, State Rep. Jansen Owen, tried to save the victim but to no avail.
“Basically, I left the courthouse and she opened fire. I did ultimately subdue her at which point she made threats against me,” Owen said.
“I administered first aid as best as I could to Mr. Saucier.”
In August, James Saucier was indicted on aggravated assault and domestic violence with a deadly weapon after shooting his wife five times including in the face.
