An off-duty Missouri deputy, his two young daughters, and a teen girl died at the scene of a horrific crash on Tuesday, authorities said.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the two-vehicle collision occurred at around 4:35 p.m. Tuesday on Highway U between Lilbourn and New Madrid.
Dustin Colbert was off-duty and driving his personal car with his two daughters, aged 4 and 1, when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed the centerline colliding with another vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle was 17-year-old Nevaeh Ladiamond Debose, an 11th-grade student in the New Madrid County R-1 School District.
All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
“To say my heart is broken for the families tonight is an understatement,” said New Madrid Mayor Nick White.
