An Augusta woman was mauled to death while walking down a road and police have arrested two dogs in connection to the fatal attack.
Samara Rogers, 21, was walking on Ira Road at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday when she was attacked by two large dogs.
First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene at 11:05 a.m., according to Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen.
Animal control agents were spotted dragging two dogs, one tan and one white with spots, outside a grayish house.
The dogs’ owner, 55-year-old Charles David Blackwell, was arrested on involuntary manslaughter charges.
Neighbors said the dogs were known for their aggressiveness but Richmond County authorities said there was no record of incidents involving the dogs in the area.
