Five family members were found dead inside a West Valley City, Utah home on Tuesday, officials said.
A concerned relative called 911 Monday after failing to reach a female victim who lived in the residence.
When police officers went to the home, they looked “in windows” and spoke to neighbors but couldn’t contact any resident.
The officer left when they did not “find any indications of an emergency or crime.”
The following day, the relatives went to the home and found an injured 17-year-old in the garage. The teen suffered an apparent gunshot wound.
“We have obtained a search warrant for the home and investigators have entered and begun their investigation,” the department said.
Officers found five deceased victims inside the home: a 42-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman, an 11-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old girl.
All five victims were family members, police confirmed.
“Officers also have canvassed the neighborhood gathering information and any video evidence,” police said.
An investigation is ongoing into the “isolated” incident. No suspects have been named.
