Active duty Marine charged with murder after body of missing Florida escort recovered from Alabama pond

Authorities in Opelika, Alabama arrested an active-duty Marine in connection to the death of a missing Florida escort whose body was found in a Mobile, Alabama pond.

An investigation into the disappearance of Tshey Bennett started Saturday when she was reported missing to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

“Due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance, investigators have been working the case as a potential homicide,” the office said.

    Willie Ellington, 20, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder.

    He was an active duty Marine based at Naval Air Station in Pensacola.

    Bennett was an escort and met Ellington at the Sweet Dreams Inn in Florida, investigators said.
