A car crashed into the play area of a Boerne daycare killing a teacher and injuring five toddlers, police said.
A parent’s car accelerated and slammed into another vehicle in the parking lot of Excelled Montessori Thursday afternoon as parents left a holiday performance, Bexar County authorities said.
The two vehicles crashed through a fence into a play area in the preschool killing teacher Alexia Rosales, 22, and wounding five 1-year-olds.
“It appears to be just a very tragic accident,” Sheriff Javier Salazar said.
Rosales was reportedly watching over the students as they played when the sudden tragedy struck.
“Alexia wasn’t just a teacher – she was a bright light in all our lives,” the school said in a statement.
“Her smile, laughter, and boundless love for the children and everyone around her made our school feel like a second home.”
