Harris County authorities said Friday that a toddler accidentally shot his mother after finding an unsecured gun inside a car.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said deputies were called to the scene off Bissonnet Street near Eldridge Parkway South Friday.

“An adult female was unintentionally shot by her 3-year-old toddler. The toddler got a hold of a firearm left on the console of the vehicle and unintentionally discharged,” the sheriff said.
The mother suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
